Fundraising RequestThe Jewish Hospital Foundation financially supported the research necessary to perform the actual hand transplant surgery. We are very excited that the research proved fruitful and successful in the performance of the first hand transplant surgery in the United States. Jewish Hospital Foundation is a leader in sponsoring medical research conducted within the Louisville Medical Center. Since 1994, the Foundation has funded over $3 million of peer-reviewed medical research which has attracted an additional $4 million from extramural funding sources such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), etc. The Jewish Hospital Foundation has been a catalyst for medical research conducted within the Louisville Medical Center and will continue to make fundraising for medical research its top priority. If you would like to make a donation to support research and medical education in the field of hand and microsurgery or composite tissue transplantation or require additional information about the Jewish Hospital Foundation, please call Keith Inman, at (502) 587-4060. Your tax-deductible gift can be designated for our medical research grant program for continued research in the partnership's efforts for composite tissue allotransplantation.
